Tragedy in Timau: Seven Lives Lost in Truck Accident.

Seven people died on the spot on Saturday evening after a truck carrying building blocks tilled into pedestrians. This happened in Timau town, Buuri constituency at around 6:30 pm.

Laura Imbacha the Buuri sub-county police commander said that several others were injured and taken to hospitals in Timau and Nanyuki towns after confirming the accidents.
The truck was ferrying building materials from Meru to Timau.

Eyewitnesses said that some pedestrians lost their lives after being hit by the building blocks.
” When the driver lost control of the truck, the vehicle swerved and hit the pedestrians before landing in a ditch. Building blocks flew into air and hit some pedestrians who died on the spot.” Said Mr.Mutwiri one of the eyewitnesses.

The destruction persisted after that.A motorbike was also involved in the collision and sadly the rider died instantly. Around 6:30 PM, when the area is usually busy something happened. However, at the time there was an overpowering sense of loss and bewilderment. Ms. Imbacha’s confirmation of the motorbike rider’s death highlighted the tragedy’s scope and added even more sorrow to an already unbearable and painful circumstance.

The truck driver, who had just minor injuries and was said to be in stable condition, managed to escape relatively unharmed despite the commotion.
Investigative efforts into the occurrence were promptly initiated by the authorities with the goal of determining the series of events that preceded the disaster.
Ms. Imbacha gave the public the assurance that more information be released when families had been properly notified and the correct protocols had been followed. This information would include the identities of the deceased and the severity of the injuries sustained by survivors.  

Emergency personnel and nearby hospitals acted quickly after the collision, transporting the injured to hospitals in the towns of
Timau and Nanyuki for critical medical care. After a lengthy and agonizing journey towards closure, the bodies of those who sadly lost their lives were respectfully moved to the mortuary at Nakuru Referral Hospital, where bereaved families would later come together to identify their loved ones.

The town was engulfed in a wave of grief and support as word of the accident traveled throughout sub-county and beyond. As they came together to grieve and pay tribute to the lives taken far too soon, neighbors, friends and complete strangers all provided assistance and comfort to those one who were directly impacted by the tragedy.

Such tragedies leave lasting wounds in their take, not only for the immediate families but also for the community as whole. Every person lost tells a different tale that is tragically cut short by an unexplainable twist of events.
Questions concerning the circumstances leading up to the tragedy and what may have been done to prevent such a terrible loss of life remain as investigations continue and information comes to light.

Buuri Sub-county is currently in mourning trying to come to terms with the average gap of victims is this catastrophe have been left behind.  In addition to joining together in grief, the community remembers those who died much too young paying tribute to their memory with every stride towards comprehension and healing.
