THE POWER OF NUMBERS FROM RESTLESS KENYAN GEN Zs

Streets painted red, the air full of rage. Clouds have formed and the rains are due. Generation Z have
sought for a revolution. There is no deadlier weapon than a revolution that does not have a leader. In the
recent overhaul in the country regarding the punitive finance bill, Kenyan Gen Zs came together in unison
to picket and fight for their rights. The Finance Bill 2024 which has raised concerns amongst the nation
had introduced taxes that were very oppressive to the common matachin. Spearheaded by the
Parliamentary Finance Committee, taxes were introduced on bread, a VAT tax of 16% which seemed not
to have settled well with Kenyans.

In the recent past, Gen Zs have been assumed to be the most ignorant in decision making more so in the
political decisions in the country. This narrative was nullified with the most recent happenings in the bid to
influence their elected MPs to shoot down the Finance Bill 2024.To their rude shock and disappointment,
the Finance Bill 2024 was passed with 204 MPs voting YES to the bill and 115 shooting it down,
something that agitated the Gen Z to the core. No state taxes its economy above its GDP growth rate.

There has been rage across all the social media platforms with the social media influencers joining the
economic revolution that the Kenyan Gen Zs have committed themselves to like a religion. Oppressors
have lost their power because the youths who seemed not to be of much significance have lost their fear.
The country is burning down with rage from the youths, the oppression is becoming unbearable from the
Kenya Kwanza government. The government has accused the opposition severally of sponsoring
the demos. Might this be true? On what basis has this been concluded? The prime cabinet minister, Hon.
Musalia Mudavadi was heard recently addressing his fears of President Ruto being taken back to
elections under a vote of no confidence when the finance bill is rejected. Will these soften the hearts of
the modern times pharaohs? Will this make the parliament reconsider their move on the finance bill?

A recent program of the 7-day revolution has been shared across all social media platforms. Youths with
the frim alliance of some millennials haver decided that enough is enough and are all in to fight for the
freedom that the forefathers fought for. In the occurrence of all this, one of their own, Rex was killed by
the demo police, something that has rose the political tension within the nation with the mentioned
politicians and people of influence who are being suspected coming out to clear the air. As if this was not
enough, a twitter(X) blogger Billy has also been put behind bars because of tweeting against the
oppressive government. This has stirred the already broken relationship between the government and the
Gen Z revolutionist as they come out in solidarity to fight for their own. A movement a revolution that was
ignored by the state has now become a headache to its own government.
