Daadab MP Farah Maalim

Wow, things are heating up in Kenyan politics! The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has called in Daadab MP Farah Maalim for a little chat on Thursday. Apparently, he’s got some explaining to do about some pretty wild comments he allegedly made about the recent protests against the Finance Bill 2024.

So get this – the NCIC says they’re looking into some stuff Maalim supposedly said in Somali. Word on the street is that he claimed he’d “slaughter 5000 Gen Z protesters” if he were running the show as president. Yikes!

The NCIC isn’t messing around. They’re saying these comments could stir up some serious trouble, maybe even violence, between different political groups. They’ve warned Maalim that if he doesn’t show up to explain himself, he could be in hot water legally.

This all kicked off after a video of Maalim making these inflammatory remarks went viral. Kenyans online were not having it, demanding he be arrested and prosecuted.

In the video, Maalim apparently goes off on the young protesters, calling their march to State House an “attempted coup.” He even throws some shade, saying they’re just rich kids from “one tribe” stirring up trouble.

But here’s where it gets really intense. The translation has him saying, “God forbid if I was president I would have slaughtered them, 5,000 of them daily. Serious, there is no two ways about it.” Holy moly!

Maalim’s trying to backpedal now, claiming the video’s been edited to make him look bad. He’s pointing fingers at Somalis, saying they’re out to get him because he “weighed in on their politics.”

This whole situation is like a political soap opera! We’ll have to wait and see what goes down when Maalim faces the music on Thursday. Stay tuned, folks!
