Speaking in Busia County during an interdenominational church service, kindiki condemned what he described as reckless predictions of election violence, assuring kenyans that the government is committed to free, fair and peaceful polls. “Kenya will never return to political barbarity. Not in 2027, not at any other time in the future. Our country learnt hard and painful lessons from 2007/2008 events. Never again,” he stated. During an interdenominational church service in busia, deputy president kithure kindiki sent a strong message to the opposition and political class, warning against what he termed as unpatriotic and dangerous prophesies of chaos in 2027. Kindiki pointed to recent remarks from former dp rigathi gachagua predicting unrest if president william ruto wins re-election. Remarks he said were meant to stir fear and doubt in the electoral system. Kindiki reminded the nation of the tragic events of 2007 and vowed that under kenya kwanza, such violence would not be repeated “Henceforth, Kenya’s leadership contests will revolve around who has better ideas to transform the country. The debate cannot be about the fear-mongering of desperate, vengeful, thoughtless and pretentious leaders,” he stated. Kindiki assured that the government is focused on building a united, inclusive administration that delivers development and maintains peace. The statement from kindiki was supported by his allies who accompanied him rubishing the opposition for promoting divisive politics. “Let no one scare you. Those prophesying doom are unpatriotic and politically immature. We must never again go back to those dark days,” he said. Meanwhile the democracy for the citizen’s party leader rigathi gachagua, speaking at a separate church service appeared to justify his previous comments that stirred up controversy. Gachagua stated that he was not inciting citizens but preparing the country emotionally for the possible backlash that could follow rutos win in 2027. “With the mood in the country, if the iebc tries to mess with the elections, there will be no country here. I want to tell you, 2007 will look like a christmas party,” he said during the interview. He added, “i want to tell those commissioners to be kenyans, to be patriotic, and not to attempt to force william ruto on the people of kenya. It will not work. The people of kenya will not accept it. People want change, and they are ready for change.” With the next general election still over two years away ,learders are being urged to prioritize peace, avoid inflammatory rhetoric and build confidence in kenyas democratic institutions and politically influenced endevors.
