Politics ONE TERM (Wantam) POLITICS: RUTO SLAMS THE ONE TERM NARRATIVE SPEARHEADED BY HIS CRITICS by Havana Media May 20, 2025 written by Havana Media 0 comment Share 0FacebookTwitterPinterestEmail 4 President William ruto has blasted his opponents who have been in the recent times been pushing the one term narrative in their public engagements. Speaking during the official handover ceremony of the affordable housing project in mukuru kwa njenga, the head of state accused oh critics of over politicking adding that this will not prevent him from delivering development for Kenyans. “Ladies and gentlemen, this is not a vertical slum,” Ruto said, adding, “There’s a misguided tendency to equate density with deprivation. A slum is not defined by population size, but by the absence of services, safety and dignity.” “These keys do not just open doors; these are keys that will unlock opportunity, safety, pride, equity, and intergenerational upliftment,” he said. The official handover ceremony of the mukuru kwa njenga affordable houses was filled with political pageantry, with president William ruto flaunting Kenya kwanza’s housing achievements as promised during his campaigns. The president added, “We also recognize that homes alone are not enough. People must be able to earn, trade, and thrive. That is why we are building modern, structured markets alongside housing, economic hubs where farmers, traders, and Mama Mboga can do business with dignity.” Solidifying his aspiration for a second term, president ruto took the opportunity to criticize his opponents who, according to him, are over politicking. The president reiterated his focus on working to accomplish development programs across the country as a plan to win the hearts of Kenyans. “The Mukuru Meteorological project is the largest single-site housing intervention in Kenya’s history. Its scale, its integrated design, and its focus on transforming informal settlements make it a landmark in public housing delivery. Residents will not only access housing, but a full ecosystem of social infrastructure,” Ruto expressed. “So far, it has injected Ksh11 billion directly into construction and neighborhood development. For every shilling invested, an additional Ksh2.50 is generated through supporting businesses, meaning nearly Ksh28 billion has already been infused into the economy through this single initiative.” Nevertheless, ruto did not leave his government’s doubting thomases unaddressed. “They told me that it is not possible, that I am a liar, and today I am here. Has it not been possible? Is it true or a lie?” The sentiments were supported by his allies who also criticized the one term narrative. “To build things like this, one needs to make difficult decisions, and we have not had leaders who are willing to make difficult decisions for the betterment of the country,” he added. As more of president ruto’s projects continue to be completed, his support is seemingly increasing, especially among those who benefit from these projects acting as his ambassadors. “This is one of the most consequential days of my political career. Today I can hand over keys to citizens of our nation, people who would otherwise have never had a chance in life. But today they have the keys not just to open doors but to open a home into dignity and we are making a difference in the lives of Kenyans,” he said. “This is the first batch. In August or September we will come to hand over another 5,000 units. We will come back again in the New Year and hand over another 5,000, and that will be the trend until we give 13,000 houses to Kenyans.” You Might Also Like LOOMING POLITICAL DIVORCE BETWEEN THE PRESIDENT AND HIS DEPUTY John Mbadi signs Kenya’s $40 Billion Debt Gamble on Country Roads Kenya Authorizes Nationwide Military Deployment Amid Protests and Parliamentary Turmoil.
