The taxpayers came out publicly to influence other Kenyans to reject the finance bill. Protesters went ahead to ask Kenyans to unfollow celebrities on social media platforms who are supporting the finance bill 2024. Celebrities and content creators went ahead to reject finance bill 2024 since there was proposed increase of taxes on cameras, ringlights which are used by most of celebrities to create content. Betty Kyalo one of the renowned journalists wooed that last year’s finance bill has already led to most of the companies and businesses shut down due to heavy taxation. She commented that the government should support it’s people and not to torment them. Khalif Kairo one of the famous entrepreneur and a pilot went ahead and rejected the finance bill.“Anyway, they pass that bill as it is. I have officially given up on this country. More celebrities and content creators were seen protesting on Thursday, June 20 like Azziad Nasenya, Wanjiku Stephens, Faustine (Baba Talisha) with placards reading “Reject Finance bill 2024” . They were at Nairobi CBD with other protesters. Other celebrities Nadai Mukami used their talents well where by she released a song on #reject finance bill 2024. She was also seen protesting at Nairobi CBD accompanied by her husband. These celebrities have used their social media platforms which has huge followings to reject finance bill 2024. Despite there are other celebrities who publicly supported the finance 2024 like KRG, Kenyan Prince and Cassypool. This left Kenyans in amazement.
