The suspects are said to have entered the premises, tied up the church guard, and carried out the robbery. Church members are now calling on the government to investigate and arrest those responsible. Members of ack gatwe church in kirinyaga county are counting losses after five bottles of sacramental wine and items worth one million shillings were stolen by thieves last night. According to the church’s pastor, david warui, they were informed about the incident after someone was heard screaming inside the church. When they went to check, they found the church guard tied up with ropes. “They unmounted the screens we usually use during service, and also raided the strong room, where they took a mixer,” said reverend warui Reverend mugo also claimed that the thieves stole his money and left everything in the church scattered. “i could not believe my eyes when i saw items scattered in the church and outside the church at tea farms,” mugo said. “After entering my office they stole ksh. 9,500 in cash, which was in my office,” rev mugo said. Members of the church have strongly condemned the incident and are now urging security agencies to investigate and take immediate action against the thieves. “Unless somebody buys those items for us, we will use drums on sunday, and it has taken years to buy those items,” muriithi said. Meanwhile, in kisii’s bomachoge borabu area, a gang of thieves is reported to have broken into the home of businessman peter nyabate and stole property worth thousands of shillings. The businessman also says the thieves forced him to send ksh 90,000 before breaking in and escaping with household items. Speaking via phone, the area ocpd sheba magomba said that police officers had been dispatched to the area to investigate and arrest all those involved. She added that stern action would be taken once the investigations are concluded. Traders in the area are now calling on the government to construct a police station to help curb the rising cases of theft in the region.
